Southwest Queensland HIV convenience testing trial

Gay and bisexual men in southwest Queensland now have access to private or mail-order mouth swab screening for HIV.

If you're a gay or bi man in southwest Queensland, contact health worker Craig Atkinson on 0431 793 662.

The basics

Ethically approved community based research is being conducted now

New oral swab technology is being used for hiv screening

You can arrange for a kit to be mailed to you or link up with one of the researchers

How it works

Screen for HIV privately and confidentially but it’s not anonymous - we need to be able to contact you with your result.

Remember HIV notifications in southwest Queensland have risen recently.

Research suggests one in five men with HIV don't know they are infected.

Participating in this research is a great idea especially if you haven't had an HIV test in the last six months.

Also you're helping your whole community by supporting this community-based approach.

Spread the word, not HIV.
