Healthy Communities is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors, elected by the Healthy Communities membership each year at our Annual General Meeting.

The Healthy Communities Board members for 2011/12 are:

Board Vacancy - General Member

 

Call for Expressions of Interest to Fill 1 Vacancy on the  Healthy Communities Board

Following a resignation, there is now one vacant position on our Board of Directors.  We are currently seeking expressions of interest from people to fill the position of General Member.  You will need to become a financial member of Healthy Communities (if not already a member).

The Board is particularly interested in people who will bring additional skills, experiences and contacts to that of the current Board members.  In particular we encourage people to come forward who fulfil one or more of the following criteria:

 

  • knowledge of and networks within any of the following communities:
    • transgender
    • bisexual
    • culturally & linguistically diverse
    • rural & regional Queensland
  • knowledge, experience or contacts in the business/professional sectors
  • knowledge, experience or skills in influencing government policy

 

If you are interested please send a brief description of your skills, experience and interest in joining the Board to pmartin@qahc.org.au by Tuesday 7th February.  A decision will be made at the February Board meeting.  If selected, induction training & support will be provided.

As a Board Member you will:

  • Set the strategic direction of the association and monitor the achievement of Healthy Communities’ strategic plan and annual operational plans.
  • Be responsible for the general control of the affairs, property & funds of Healthy Communities in order that the association may fulfil its mission and objectives.
  • Ensure that Healthy Communities complies with relevant legislation, contracts, agreements, its constitution and best practice standards.
  • Develop and/or endorse organisational policies and procedures, including risk management.
  • Attend and actively contribute to Board meetings, the Annual General Meeting and other Healthy Communities events.
  • Promote the work of Healthy Communities in the community and through your personal/professional networks.
  • Utilise your personal/professional knowledge, experiences and contacts in your work on the Board.

General Member

  • Is a voice for QAHC constituent communities i.e. lesbians, gay men, bisexuals and transgender people.
  • Is a voice for subsections of the LGBT community e.g. Indigenous & CALD.
  • Is a contact point for QAHC’s constituent communities.
