ContentsMake a General DonationYour donation can make a difference. The Queensland Association for Healthy Communities (QAHC) relies on donations from individuals and businesses to support much of our work. All donations over $2 to QAHC are tax deductible and a receipt will be provided. QAHC is a Health Promotion Charity and a deductible gift recipient (DGR). See below for further info on tax deductibility. You can tell us how you would like your donation to be used:
Donors names will be listed (by consent) on the QAHC website and in the annual report. If you are a business we will also display your logo on the ‘sponsors’ section of our website and in the next edition of our newsletter. You can make a donation online through PayPal using the 'Donate' button on the left of the screen. Make a BequestQAHC can also receive bequests. A bequest is simply a gift made in your will of part or all of your estate. How much you decide to leave as a bequest depends on your own circumstances. It's your personal decision - whatever you can afford will help. For information on making a will and how to include QAHC open the Writing Your Will booklet or call Fundraising Coordinator, Jason Russo on 07 3017 1728 or 1800 177 434. Tax Deductible Gifts to QAHCQAHC, as a registered Health Promotion Charity is a Deductible Gift Recipient (DRG) organisation. This means that individual donors and companies can claim a tax deduction through their tax return for ‘gifts’ made to QAHC. Gifts include money and property (goods) that meet one of the following conditions:
Gifts do not include raffle tickets, purchases of fundraising items (e.g. chocolates), membership fees or supply of a service. The donor can claim the full amount of any money gifted to QAHC. For property, the value of the gift for the purposes of claiming a deduction is the lesser of either the market value of the gift on the day the gift was made or the amount paid for the gift. (Note: gifts of property over $5000 require formal valuation – please see the Tax Office for more info). The gift deduction can be spread over a period of up to 5 years. The donor should keep a record of any gifts made, including:
Contributions made under a will are generally not tax deductible. Contributions made by individuals to fundraising events such as balls, gala shows, dinners and charity auctions may be tax deductible, if the following conditions are met:
The deduction is limited to the part of the contribution above the market value of the right/good. Example: You pay $500 to attend a fundraising dinner. The market value of the diner (all costs) is $50. You can claim a deduction of $450. |
