2010 QAHC Tropical Alternatives Film Festival Wraps Up

The Queensland Association for Healthy Communities (QAHC) 4th Annual Tropical Alternatives Film Festival (TAFF) was a huge sensation this year, with over 900 people attending across the state.

During the month of May we screened at 8 regional locations including; Cairns, Townsville, Mackay, Rockhampton, Hervey Bay, Sunshine Coast, Toowoomba and the Gold Coast. TAFF continues to bring LGBT stories and lives to regional Queensland.

Feedback from attendees was very positive. One attendee said “I thought it was lots of fun, great to have this social event on the calendar” and “I liked the program and the movies were great”.

The Queensland Pride Short Film competition also debuted – in all fourteen entries were received, seven of which were screened at the festival. Furthermore, MacKay was added to the film festival’s regional screening locations for 2010.

QAHC would like to thank the sponsors of TAFF 2010 who contributed over $15000 of sponsorship to make the film festival happen.

The Queensland Pride Short Film Competition Audience Award will be announced on the 16th June, 2010.
