Pride 2008

June 2008 will be the 19th Brisbane Pride Festival and once again the community will be coming together to celebrate with many interesting and entertaining events and activities throughout the month of June.

The theme for the 2008 Brisbane Pride Festival is “Freedom”, and QAHC is running a campaign based on this theme during the Festival. The campaign includes events and activities throughout the month of Pride celebrating our Freedom to Be (who we are), our Freedom to Love (who we want), and our Freedom Act (to affect real change) to ensure we can enjoy these Freedoms now and into the future.

Our events will give the LGBT community the opportunity to reflect on the freedoms we have gained along with how far we still have to go. Our events range from forums hosted by local lobbyists and activists, workshops on both gay and lesbian relationships, indigenous and multicultural social events, and gender queer workshops. The community will have the opportunity during our Campaign Launch  and Pride Fair Day to “voice their opinion ” about freedom, by participating in the Booth Project: where views and opinions will be recorded on video.

We will edit the footage and post the end result online. So watch this space!

We have also added links to LGBT human rights groups, and have included information on how you can get involved to affect change. Also, be sure to check back often as we will update this website with more information about QAHC’s Pride activities, as it develops.
