The (Hats Off Positive Endeavour) HOPE Fund has been established to support HIV+ people across Queensland. It is the intention that the HOPE Fund will provide small grants of goods and services to people in need who are HIV+ and residents of Queensland. The HOPE Fund is not an emergency relief fund. The HOPE Fund is available for genuine material need, funding for a short course or a personal development project, the HOPE Fund aims to assist people living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHA) improve their life with small one off grants for genuine need when no other funding is available.

Where has the HOPE Fund money come from?

"Hats Off Brisvegas" by Oz Showbiz Cares/Equity Fights AIDS was held at the Powerhouse Theatre New Farm. This was a fundraising event with all proceeds generously donated to Queensland Positive People (QPP) Incorporated.

After the event, the first of its kind to be held in Brisbane, a working committee was formed between representatives of Oz Showbiz Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, QPP, the National Association of People Living with HIV/AIDS (NAPWA) and Positive Directions, as a result of the initial meetings of this committee the HOPE Fund was created.

Shortly afterwards the Queensland AIDS Council (QuAC) joined with the HOPE Fund to assist with the establishment of the Fund. In light of the work, being done to establish the HOPE Fund, QuAC generously decided to cease the HIV Living Fund and contribute the money remaining in the HIV Living Fund to the HOPE Fund. Therefore the HOPE Fund is an initiative of Oz Showbiz Cares/Equity Fights AIDS and QPP, in partnership with QuAC and Positive Directions. The HOPE Fund is auspiced by QPP. All funds raised by the Alliance during AIDS Awareness Week and World AIDS Day including donations received from the distribution of Red Ribbons will go to the HOPE Fund.

All organisations currently involved in this worthwhile project would like to acknowledge and express sincere gratitude to Oz Showbiz Cares/Equity Fights AIDS for the amazing amount of work organising, and the generosity of inaugural HATS Off BrizVegas event which was the catalyst for the creation of the HOPE Fund.
