Jan Thwaites My name is Jan Thwaites, Office Manager for Healthy Communities.   I am a born and bred Brisbane girl.   I have only had 3 jobs in my working life, starting off with being a bookbinder for a printing firm in Brisbane.   My parents and my brother all worked at the firm and I guess it was in my blood that I started my working life there as well.   After the company lost the Telecom Directory contract (as Telstra was know in the 80s)to a company in Victoria, most staff were made redundant.   I moved onto working for the children’s charity, Save the Children.   I remained in my role as Administration Manager for 13 years.   I started to feel my skills were not being utilised very well and decided that I needed a change of work environment which led me to applying for the position of Office Manager at Healthy Communities.   I enjoy my varied role so much at Healthy Communities and I feel that I may be here for quite a few years(funding permitted)  .  I work with a great group of people who are very passionate about what they do and I am very proud to be associated with the organisation.

Kel Davies Hi this is Kel Davies, my job at Healthy Communities is around outreach and volunteer organisation. Basically I’m the person who connects our Health Promotion Officers with our volunteers. I organise recruitment, training, and upskilling for the volunteers and then I link them to parties, events or outreach that Healthy Communities organises. My goal is to build a culture at Healthy Communities where every volunteer feels valued and that we are offering as many opportunities as possible for the incredible people who help build our organisation.
Having spent his formative years in New Zealand, famed for its sheep and exporting anyone with an IQ over 100, Graham Norton is understandably confused and often unintelligible. His early working life was spent in NSW talking about safe sex whilst rushing around making coffee and lending an understanding ear. When this began to pall, he moved to Queensland to work for Healthy Communities where he offers the limited pearls of wisdom he has gained to the gay men’s sexual health promotion team as their regional manager. He still claims to be motivated by talking about sex but now spends most of his time helping the team do this better.
