One Community Celebrating Diversity photo competition

One part of the campaign was a public photo competition.  Community members were asked to submit a photo on the theme of  "a representation of pride & prejudice in our community"  People were asked to demonstrate this theme, either as a representation of prejudice inthe LGBT community towards other LGBT people, a representation of the diversity of individuals who make up the community, or a combination of both.  The winning entry was judged by William Yang.

Below are some of the competition entries, including the winning entry - "Reflections"

“The theme, pride and prejudice, was challenging. Prejudice is hard to show visually, pride is slightly easier, but together they’re very difficult. Perhaps organizers in the future might think of more open themes, like “community” or “belonging” or “defiance”, to encourage photographers. However the winning entry illustrates a kind of pride, displays photographic technical skill, and is a worthy winner. Mel Hansen’s Reflection.”
