Queensland’s Tropical Alternatives Queer Film Festival 2012

2012 LGBT TAFF Advert & Film Competitions

Cash prizes are being awarded for two competitions being run by Healthy Communities as part of the 2012 LGBT Tropical Alternative Film Festival (TAFF)

The Tropical Alternatives Film Festival (TAFF) presented by Healthy Communities is the only regional queer film festival in Queensland which celebrates queer issues through film. Films selected for TAFF seldom receive mainstream theatrical or television release making TAFF an important exhibitor of shorts, features and documentaries from all over the globe including titles like: The Doctors Wife and Orchids which have gone on to win international film awards.

The two competitions included a film advertisement comp and a short film comp. For the film Ad comp, people with a connection to QLD LGBT communities are encouraged to make a short film ad, no longer than 90 seconds, around the theme of LGBT alcohol, tobacco and other drug use. First prize is a whopping$1000, 2nd prize $500 and third prize $250. All winners plus a selection of other ads that impressed the judges will be shown at all TAFF screenings throughout Queensland

The short film comp has a first prize of $500 and filmmakers are invited to submit films und 20 minutes which portray our lives and our stories and convey the realities and joys of living LGBT lives. All entries must be received by 5pm April the 30th 2012
