Gay Men & Relationships Study comes to Queensland
Monogamy as an HIV & STI Prevention Strategy
Sexual health advice for gay men usually focuses on sexual behaviours rather than on intimate relationships and researchers know little about men's reasons for choosing monogamous or other kinds of relationships. In this project, the researchers are asking men to tell them about their experiences and thoughts on relationships, monogamy and open relationships.
Participation involves a 60-minute interview in a convenient location. The researchers hope to speak with:
Confidentiality of the information provided is assured.
The researchers hope the findings will inform HIV and STI health promotion activities by exploring how issues such as trust, loyalty and communication in different kinds of relationships shape men's choices around safer sex.

Seroconversion Study
This is a study for people who have recently been diagnosed with HIV. The aim is to collect information about experiences with HIV, both before and after diagnoses. This study will provide valuable information for health promotion efforts and for policy development, and may be used in the development of health promotion materials for men or women in the gay, straight, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender communities.
If you are over 18, male or female, living in Australia and over 18 years of age who
has recently been diagnosed with HIV and would like to take part in the survey, or the interview components of this research, please go to http://www.nchecrsurveys.unsw.edu.au/hivss ’Recently’ means a diagnosis any time in the last five years, but preferably within the last two years.
This study is being conducted in partnership with Healthy Communities and other AIDS Councils and in conjunction with QPP and other People Living With HIV/AIDS organisations nationwide. The Survey is vital to research and health care promotion on a national level. Helping us learn about your attitudes, behaviours, and experiences around HIV is an important part of helping us overcome the effects this virus has had on our society, and on the communities in which we live. Your participation is completely anonymous, and your story is very important to us.

Private Lives 2 Second national survey of the health and wellbeing of LGBT Australians
Private Lives 2 was an on-line survey of the health and wellbeing of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender Australians and has now closed. The first Private Lives survey was conducted in 2005 and involved over 5,000 participants. The results of the survey have
had a major impact on improvements in health and community services for LGBT people across the country.
Private Lives 2 revisited many of the questions used in the original survey to see if and how things have changed for LGBT people.
