TrainingThe Queensland Association for Healthy Communities Inc (QAHC) has provided sexuality and gender identity awareness training to health and health related service providers in Queensland since 2005. Both half-day and whole-day workshops are delivered in either open- access or in-service formats, generally free of charge. To date QAHC has trained 587 service providers in Northern, Western, Central and Southern Queensland. QAHC is committed to providing a high standard of interactive and challenging adult learning experiences. The continuing development and delivery of training tools and resources for service providers seeks to support the development of inclusive services for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) clients. Half day sexuality and gender identity awareness training workshopThis 4 hour workshop provides information on sexuality, gender identity and LGBT health outcomes. The workshop provides mechanisms to support the provision of inclusive work practices and service environments for clients who questioning their sexuality and/or gender identity or identifying as LGBT. The workshop aims to raise awareness and address the barriers that many LGBT people encounter when seeking to access health and health related services. Open the Regional Workshop power point presenation What We Don't See: Raising awareness of issues that affect young people exploring their sexuality and gender identityThis 8 hour workshop explores the social pressures that affect young people exploring their sexuality and/or gender identity and their influence on the health patterns of LGBT young people. The workshop focuses on providing mechanisms to support inclusive provision to young people questioning or identifying as LGBT. The workshop seeks to raise awareness of some of the specific issues that affect LGBT families and to provide mechanisms to support inclusive service provision to LGBT people and their families.
